SURGICAL TREATMENTS
Tooth extraction
Despite all these efforts:
Dental caries that cannot be treated or restored,
Advanced Periodontal (Gum) diseases,
Infections and abscesses that cannot be cured in tooth roots, For
orthodontic treatment,
Malpositioned (extremely located in the front or back of the tooth) teeth,
Tooth and tooth roots that are irreparably broken,
Impacted teeth are extracted.
Impacted 20-Year-Old Teeth
Especially wisdom teeth, or third molars, are the last teeth to develop and erupt in the mouth and are the teeth with a high probability of being impacted. Wisdom teeth erupt around 18-23 years of age. Since today's modern life changes people's eating habits, smaller jaw bones are formed over time and therefore wisdom teeth cannot find a place to erupt. If wisdom teeth are considered impacted, it should not mean that every impacted wisdom tooth will be extracted. female eruption; depends on age, the degree of impaction in the jawbone and its position. Ages 15-20 are the most suitable ages for evaluation. Root development of wisdom teeth is completed around the age of 21. If tooth extraction is decided, it is advantageous to perform the extraction at an early age. Because the jaw bones are softer at younger ages; therefore, teeth may be easier to extract. Complications of surgical intervention may be more common in shootings to be performed at older ages.
Wisdom teeth usually do not function because they are not in the chewing plane. Since the wisdom tooth is at the back of the mouth, it is very difficult to clean and restore it when it decays. Since they are behind, wisdom teeth that do not play an active role in chewing activity and especially crooked erupted wisdom teeth should be extracted because of the potential risks.
They can cause joint pain. When wisdom teeth erupt, they can create inconsistency in the dental closure of the jaws or chewing movements. The forces resulting from early tooth contact may cause adverse effects on the jaw joint. In addition, if the wisdom teeth cannot erupt, they can create a pushing force in the jawbone and cause pain reflected in the joint. For this reason, in patients with joint pain complaints, impacted wisdom teeth should be considered as a trigger and it would be appropriate to remove them.

The reason why impacted wisdom teeth are a problem is that this tooth is not needed genetically and our jaws are getting smaller and smaller. As our jaws get smaller, wisdom teeth are forced to find a place for themselves and therefore cannot come out like other teeth. The wisdom teeth, which cannot find a place for themselves, push the front tooth and put pressure on it, which is thought to exacerbate the crowding in the lower front teeth that started in the 20s. In addition, they cannot be cleaned properly because they are too far behind, and they can easily become inflamed because the gingiva around them is not in a normal anatomical structure.
Fully impacted wisdom teeth; are potential causes of problems. They can cause root resorption in neighboring teeth. Apart from this, they may cause cyst or tumor formation in the future. Surgical removal is the best option. In cases where they cannot be taken due to some special reasons, they should be followed up with x-rays once a year for a long time.
Partially erupted wisdom teeth; are the ones that cause the most problems. Since they cannot come out completely, they try to come out by putting pressure on the front tooth. The piece of gum (hood) on them becomes inflamed due to the escape of food residues and bacterial growth over time. As a result of the inflammation of the gingiva around the tooth; pain, swelling, abscess occurs. They create a suitable environment for caries. Since they can cause decay in the adjacent tooth, it is appropriate to have them removed as soon as possible.
Fully erupted 20-year-old teeth; they usually do not cause problems, but because they are too far behind, they are difficult to brush. For this reason, it is recommended to withdraw as a preventive measure in patients whose oral care is not very good.
