IMPLANT TREATMENT

Dental implant can be defined as an artificial tooth root. These are screws with a special surface made of tissue-friendly titanium, which are placed in the jawbone in the place of missing teeth in the mouth. With porcelain or zirconium dental prostheses placed on these screws, the missing teeth are restorated. Dental implants offer treatment results similar to nature, whether in the absence of a single tooth or in the absence of all teeth.

  1. It can be preferred in the lower and upper jaws of the patients where there is a tooth loss
  2. It is suitable for use in areas without teeth for a long time.
  3. It helps in maintaining dental health.
  4. When consuming food, there is no problem.
  5. It does not harm neighboring teeth.
  6. It offers an aesthetic and beautiful smile.

How Implant Treatment Starts:

First Examination in Implant Treatment:

The first examination for dental implants begins by evaluating the general health status of the patient. Then, the necessary intraoral examination and radiographic examinations are performed. Advanced imaging techniques called dental volumetric tomography can be used if necessary, 3D images are obtained and the treatment plan is ideally realized. The most appropriate surgery and prosthesis are planned for the patient in terms of aesthetics and use, in line with the patient's expectations from the treatment and 3D radiographic images.

Implant Application:

After the treatment plan is made, it is time to place the implants surgically. It is essential that implant surgery be performed under sterile conditions. Local anesthesia method, in which only the operation area is numbed, is sufficient and very successful for dental implant placement. In addition, these procedures are also successfully performed under conscious sedation or general anesthesia.

Slots are opened for implants in the jawbone and after the implants are placed in these sockets, the process is terminated by suturing. An average of 1 week after the operation, the sutures are removed and a control examination is performed.

How Long Does Implant Application Take?

Contrary to popular belief, implant applications are treatments completed in a short time. Placement of an average implant takes about 10 minutes and varies depending on the number of implants planned to be placed in the treatment.

In addition, bone graft application or additional procedures to improve soft tissue can often be performed in implant treatments. In this case, the total processing time is extended by a certain amount.

How long does it take to complete the whole treatment after the dental implant is made?

After a standard implant treatment, a waiting period of 2 months in the lower jaw and 3 months in the upper jaw is usually necessary. This period is the micro mechanical union of the bone and the implant, called osseointegration, and at the end of this, the dental implant and the bone is almost integrated . In cases which bone graft  is applied, the waiting period is extended up to 6 months.
